Just Bought A 2007 St2

Hi all picked up a red st2 with mountune upgrade kit pre installed, already told on here to buy this one because of the kit, and yes it makes a good sound.... good in an underground carpark!!!! How can you tell that you have one installed (mountune) all I can see is a K&N filter in the engine with a big pipe attached to it?

I would like to know what is standard kit please, when I looked at it with the dealer it was noted that the car has heated front wind screen but we could find no button as the row where these are on the centre column below the heater settings only contained one for the rear and all the rest where non existent. The dealer ordered a switch as the wires plug was present behind the blank and they said all should be fine but when I picked it up they told me that it did not work and they would look into it and perhaps fit a relay? So I have to book it in to get that fixed.

My second question is the car has the xeon head lights but was told they could move up and down depending on the weight inside the car but when I tried this the button which moves them up and down does nothing and the lights are fixed pointing straight ahead which can not be good for other drivers.

My final thing is that in the manual it talks about the car having ESP and there should be a button to enable it and disable it but again the place which the button should be fixed to just has a blank covering it.

My car is 2007 registered in March

O and it has just displayed an engine management problem (not a flashing light but a fixed one) I think I have baught a Sunday made car!!!

Thanks all for looking I love the forum and have just bought my membership... again thanx

Are you sure it's not an ST1 ?

- Could be a miss-build?
when I put my insurance details in they class it as an ST2 thats all I know..

That does sound like an
1.

They had no esp or heated front screen.

this doesnt sound too good!

the ST1 never came with xenons...there is no headlamp levelling switch, its automatic so have no idea why you have a switch...could it be the previous owner installed xenons and the switch was for the previous normal headlamps???
Does the car have headlamp washers??? All STs with factory fitted xenons will have headlamp washers.

ST1 never came with ESP...hence why you have no button.

AFAIK the ST1 didnt have a heated front screen either just heated rear and wing mirrors again hence why you havent a button...you have an ST1 by the sound of things my friend.

What sort of stereo do you have, is it a Sony or a Ford one? If its a Ford you definitely have an ST1...strange the plate is flashing it up as an ST2.

Xenon headlights are self levelling, no adjustments can be made inside the car
Hi all and thanks so far the head lights are bright white light very intense and seam to get brighter not normal light (strange) the car wind screen has the small mesh init and the cd player is a Sony one. The car has a leveling switch but does nothing. The car as far as I can see but its a bit dark now does not have them. What have I baught?

get some pics up - would be the easiest thing, then everyone can say instantly what it is then
yes can do isnt there not an easy way to find out? Also I was told that it had a mountune kit fitted how would I know? Am going to dealer in the morning to speak to them... They are a Ford dealer. How would I know what has been fitted as extras by the person who originally bought it?

theres usually yellow badges plastered everywhere. under the bonnet i think there should be one, maybe on the air intake!? im not entirely sure.

should be a yellow badge on the boot or sumin.

i would have thought the kinda person that would put moutune on would be the sorta person to keep everybit of history on the car, is there no receipt for it?
If you have the Mountune kit fitted the engine bay will look absolutely stock except for a sticker on the front air intake which will have a K&N sticker stating that the filter is service free (they used to have a BIG yellow sticker but I think they have been phased out). The exterior may not have badges (I was given mine by the dealer to place myself). What you should check is your handbook as they have to give you the Mountune Re-map code in case the car's management system requires updates when it's in for service, they have to re-enter the Mountune code to eneable to new map again.

Sounds like all may not be as it seems from the dealer. Contact Mountune direct if in doubt as they have a list of vehicles that have been upgraded as they match the re-map and parts to the chassis number. Sounds to me like someone may be putting parts in a ST1 and selling it as an ST2 and I would seriously question the Mountune. What does your boost gauge tell you?

Ben
If a Ford dealer sold you this as an ST2 I would take it back to them and ask for a refund.

The mountune upgrade doesnt come with a K&N cone type filter if thats what you mean, but this could just be an addition by the previous owner on top of the mountune. You can tell if its mapped by giving it beans and watching the boost gague, if it goes all the way to the red its been remapped.

You can check if you've got xenons by parking facing a wall in the dark and turning your lights on, you shuld see the beam move up and down as the auto levelers sort them selves out.

You could check the traction control by nailing it in 2nd in the wet, it should quite easily break traction and a light will flash on the dashboard as you feel the power being cut.

Hope everything works out fella

I've got to agree with this. Sounds almost certain that they have sold you an ST-1 that has been advertised as an ST-2. I would take it back and demand a refund. Might be a good car but could cause you no end of trouble when you come to sell it.

Does it have the automatic headlight washers? From what you have already said it sounds like it does have xenons. Without the washers this would be illegal and would be your easiest way out in my opinion.
as people have said the auto leveling xenons dont have any controls its automatic, the button you mention that dosnt do anything is probably the dashboard back light contol next to the headlight switch.

I think he does have the control from the ST-1 which adjusts the level but as he says it doesn't do anything which it wouldn't if xenons have been fitted at a later date.
If it has the mountune kit fitted, the intercooler will be different. I think I am right in saying the mountune intercooler is bigget and black, where the standard intercooler is silver???
Standard intercooler has 11 fins but the mountune one is bigger so should have more, this sounds abit like Stevie B Asbo's

that does not have xenons are the washers try putting your reg number or vin number on the Ford etis site that will tell you what it had when it left the factory

It's hard to tell from the pics but it looks like it doesn't have the headlight washers. Do you know if it does or not?

It definitely has xenons but an ST-1 light switch. It is a legal requirement to have the headlight washers so they have sold you a car that is not roadworthy.

If there is no ESP switch it is likely it doesn't have it so they have also mis-sold you that.

And to top it off it has a K&N induction kit which by Mountunes own admission is not ideal to have with the Mountune upgrade. To be honest mate I would be marching into the dealer and I wouldn't leach until I had a refund!

Sorry
