Bought my daughter Jade a new car last weekend. A Christmas and B'day pressie rolled into one, as she is 17 on 4th January.

Cracking little thing.

1.25 Zetec Ghia. X-plate, 2001. 52,000 miles.

Drives and looks great.

Everyone was really happy with it.

Yesterday, the doorbell rang. The lady from a few doors up had done this.........

She was very apologetic, and admitted full liability.

Had a quote for the damage and it looks like about £1200.

I do hope the insurers don't write it off - he's a cracking little car, and we've only had him 6 days.

Struth she did a proper job there
. Thats such bad luck, only having had the car 6 days!! Is that part of the wing mirror in the road

If it's any consolation I have a bottle of T-cut and a tube of elbow grease you can borrow

Um......

"Not well".
Ouch... looks nasty, at least the culprit done the decent thing and admitted liability straight away, not many would do that, especially at this time of year.

I hope you unleash the monkeys with lazers on they're heads on her

That's a bluddy shame Dave

With regards to the write-off issue, I'm sure you can require the 3rd partie's insurer to put the car back into the condition from before the accident even if they want to write it off? Have a hunt on the web, maybe look at the Honest John section on the Telegraph website.

Just a little update for those that care; besides I hate leaving a thread "hanging".

Insurance company have finally approved the repair - i.e. they are not writing Roffy off.

Roffy is off to the car hospital this afternoon. With a following wind, we should have him back for Christmas!!

Fantastic news Dave, fingers crossed "Roffy" will be home again in no time

It's amazing what three phone calls a day to the insurance company, and two calls a day to the bodyshop will accomplish....

glad it's all sorted out Dave.

Probably could have got it done quicker if you'd threatened them with a few plauges and a dose of pestilence

I ran out.

It's on back order at my local supplier.

I just sneezed on them a bit instead.
