Iphone Issue

I have a 3G iPhone that has the latest updated software from iTunes.

On the Apps logo, it's showing as having 1 update but when I try and access that update, it says it cannot connect to iTunes to find the update.

I have plugged it into iTunes and the update isn't there.

I am confuzzled!!!! Any advice is greatfully received!

I've had it say there's a update but there wasn't one, the number cleared it's self after a day or two. I would just leave it and see if it goes.
get it jailbroken, well worth it plus free apps.

did it few weeks ago, can change the appearance of the iphone layout etc and themes, also downloaded tomtom for free, normally £50

Dude, telling a policeman you illegally downloaded commercial software for free is not usually considered a great career move.

These are the exact type of i-phones that the current crop of viruses are targeting at the moment. good luck avoiding them! Also, if your phone goes wrong, you'll be screwed on a free replacement or repairing it (my brother in law is one of Apples repair techs, and they wont touch it!) not worth the hassle in my opinion. Also look at what happened recently to all those XBOXs that had been unlocked!

With the latest worn attempting to steal users bank details...

I used to have my iphone jailbroken purely to change the background/menu icons and IMHO your using a £440(16gb)/£540(32gb) a few pound for a app is hardly going to break the bank.
Try a forced restart.

Hold the lock and home buttons down until: the turn off slider appears.. and then (keep holding) the phone switches off.. and then it starts up again.

This can cure quite a few problems including cleaning out the phone's memory (which can speed it up if its running slow).
Thank you all...I tried the forced restart... the damn number is still there!!!!Still not managed to get rid as yet!!

Both myself and Charlotte have iPhones although Charlottes is the 3g version and mine is the newer 3gs. The 3g is out of warranty and has a terrible battery life so I've ordered a new battery and will attempt to replace it

With regards to the stuck app it does sound strange and I can't say I've ever had that issue.

Have you tried backing up the iPhone and then restoring?

Regards
Scott

That does not surprise me

Using the phone as an alarm clock is a risky business too,if you have less than a 1/3 of the battery left when you set it,it does not go off

The Alarmtunes app is good for waking up to your chosen iPod song though

3gs battery is appaling... ive got a car charger and a desk top charger .. you can squeeze a bit out if you turn off bluetooth / location / and wifi when not been used ..

if you force reset like mentioned above it should sort most issues ...also they should be synched with itunes at least once a month as a minimum
Need to invest in a car/office charger.

Using my phone now and again from 9am, i get to 5:30 and have approx 10-20% battery left.

Busy day 0-10%

Even though i curse at it regualy, it still impresses me when i use it for the internet etc.
Isnt a phone on the market today anywhere near it in my opinion

I find the battery goes down extremely quickly when the wifi is on or if I am using a lot of apps. Recently I've been very careful to turn wifi off when not in use and close apps between uses and I find I can easily get a day out of a battery with plenty to spare. I charge it to full every night but often it is still above 50% so could last two days if I couldn't get to a charger.
for you guys with the iphone 3GS and have email added to it, try changing the e-mail from Push to Fetch. I had mine set to Push for my work e-mails when i first got it and the battery life was rubbish, had to charge it like 3 times a day so changed it to Fetch and it last's a whole day easily and thats with the wireless on and the bluetooth.

go to settings> mail, contacts, calandars> fetch new data> and turn off push and set the schedule for fetch to every 15mins or something.
