Insurance due

Hi guys, well it’s that time of year again when my insurance is up for renewal. Just wondered if anybody had any suggestions on who to try.

For context I’m in my 40s, I have an ST Mark 3.52018 plate. I have five years no claims bonus. This is Due to a theft I had back in January 2022. Previously had full claims but didn’t protect, Schoolboy error I know, learned the hard way. Also to add I have no convictions, no points on my license. I’ve been driving more than 20 years and I am a UK citizen.

I’m going to try Chris knott Who in my experience I’ve been the best of the bunch. Couldn’t beat my cheapest quote last year due to the theft. Told me to try again after a year which I will do.

Please do not recommend Adrian flux to me. Literally had a quote today Of, wait for it, £4000 plus £1000 excess, and also said I would need to have a tracker fitted to qualify for this price. I actually felt quite insulted. Not the call handlers fault but I told him politely that it was the worst quote I’ve ever had. Told him that it was material to tell my friends in the pub and stand back and watch their jaw drop. I have a actually lost a lot of respect for Adrian flux. I know insurance is a strange concept to fathom but the quotation above left me feeling like they were deliberately taking the **** and I will never give them the opportunity again. To put their price into context the cheapest quote I have had so far is just over £700 with an excess of £400. So you can see it’s not just a little bit of a difference it’s a dramatic difference.

I’ll shut up ranting now but if you genuinely know who might be worth a call let me know. Tried greenlight before and they were not prepared to give me a quote with my postcode. But at least they didn’t take the **** by quoting something ridiculous so I actually had more respect for them.

Thanks

I was with the AA last year at around £360 for the year (about £30 a month). Just got my renewal through & it had jumped to nearly £700 (just short of £60 a month) so basically doubled. I rang to query & was told because the Focus is showing as the third most stolen car on the lists the premiums reflect this?? As a returning customer they offered to take £9.50 (!!??) off my renewal as a thankyou for insuring with them again?
Did a Compare the Meerkat search & strangely the AA declined a quote? Got insured with Churchill now for £380 a year and when asked they said the Focus wasn't showing on their lists as a more stolen car than it has been before?
Rung the AA back & advised them to take a very long jump off a short pier............................

Does that mean you will need to cut back on a couple of your OAP dinnertime specials then to fund the increase...........................😊

has anyone insured a new st lately? just wondering what the premiums are like on a car thats worth 40k or more and fitted with the track pack etc compared to say a 15k car as obviously any payouts/repairs would cost the insurance company more

Is that because you changed the garage door lock to a less secure one then? Or left it on the drive overnight to dry off after washing it & before putting it away again............;)

Saying that there is a guy lives down the road from me with a nice deep maroon colour BMW X5 that is out EVERY morning washing & polishing it on his drive & I have NEVER seen it move! Unless he drives it around at night as no matter the time or day I go past it is ALWAYS on his drive - gleaming in the sunshine!!!
