I looked at this quite a few times on autotrader and pistonheads when I was originally after an EO facelift due to the price. Whilst I didn't actually ring the owner I chose to give it a miss as it's been for sale for quite a while now and still not shifted, price has been dropped before aswell.

I'm not trying to slate the car in anyway as it could be fine but personally I'd rather fork out the extra £1000 and get a sound one. A few EO 08 ST2's and 3's have been and gone for the £14k-£15 mark, try dagenham motors they have quite a few in stock at good prices due to rebuying 1 year lease contract cars.

I went with the 06 EO in the end as couldn't justify the extra few £1000's for cosmetics to myself.

If your in the area though go check it out by all means or run an HPI on it.

Just my 2p's worth as I looked for ages before buying

i cant see where it says its been a cat d insurance loss, a couple of things dont add up, 350bhp? cruise control???? all that aside i only used to buy my cars from the auction and would have no hesitation buying a cat D {or C } again as long as you get an rac or aa check or something similar done to check the standard of repair work then you should have no problems, a good thing about cat D is it wont have needed a VIC check so shouldnt be recorded on the logbook

edit: just realised what this ST is,when he was rebuilding that i gave him an intercooler for it, so theres a bit of my car in there

Anytime mate, tbh the BEST bit of advice I was given on this forum when I was searching was to write down exactly what spec you want your ST to be and don't buy anything else. There are loads about due to the current climate and I was fixated with an EO ST3, nearly got a pb or black one just to get it quick. But know now how much I would have regretted it!

Nothing against PB or black ST's though...if a little slower

iv owned cat d cars and as long as its been signed off as repaired and has an mot i wouldn't worry, obviously give it a dam good check over first tho.

over 350 brake
nothing like blatant lies to try and sell a car

I would have no quarms about buying a cat D if its been repaired well. My advice would be only to buy the car if you intend to keep it for a decent amount of time, as it always takes time to sell a cat D and dealers will give you pittance trade in as this guy is probably finding out, and if you decide after a year its not for you you'll be stuck in the same position.

Not specific to this example but I have also owned a couple of cat D cars in the past. My advice apart from the obvious checks etc is it can make good sense as long as you are keeping the vehicle for a decent length of time. If you like to change your car regularly then it makes less sense due to the limited market for such vehicles.
