I've got the Focus ST-3 Diesel (2.0), and on a 26-mile commute, averaging around 49 mpg - that's when I don't go over 80mph, of course!
The Diesel ST suprised me with how it still drives and returns such good mileage... hoon around and it still drinks a fair amount, but it's nice knowing not as much as the Petrol versions  :box:

With the map on mine and new PS4s rubber all round it's a blast to drive.

I'd rather still have the extra 70+ odd bhp to play with & to hell with the fuel economy. If I wanted a car to do 50+mpg I'd get a little Ka - and it would still be petrol.

And that's before we start talking about having an STD.................. :bleh:

All in good jest though!!!

To paraphrase Charlton Heston once about the American gun laws - you can prise the keys to my petrol car out of my cold dead hands!!!!

To paraphrase Margaret Thatcher - this 'person' is not for turning - to electric - or anything else!!

That's why they call it being a petrolhead!!!!

Hi all,
Let me tell you about my 400 mile + Road trip yesterday, start point Wilts, Maidstone, Colchester, and how well the car behaved, started out with cruise control set 75mph, a steady 39.8 mpg, woo hoo, return journey a little less, 35 - 36, but then not as light on the right foot going home, but all in all, a very satisfactory average of 35.6mpg, using Tesco momentum,

I used to own a MK3.5 ST3. It averaged 35.6 mpg over approx 12 thousand miles according to main trip meter. Mixed driving, certainly not attempting to achieve mpg. I have a Mk4 now and it is averaging 34.4 mpg according to Ford's app, exactly what wltp claims. It was averaging 36 mpg in its running in days. i always use at least 97 octane petrol.

Don't do too well with mileage on my petrol ST. It's just part of the fun of living in Milton Keynes where we have roundabouts every ten feet. I'm averaging around 28 or so, shoots up to the mid 30's on a motorway run without all those roundabouts.

It's so bad!!!

My MK7 Gti would return over 40mpg on a long run no problem, my petrol ST is getting 35mpg at absolute best. Usually more around the 29/30mpg level per tank.

Still its a lot better then my old Stage 1 M135i which done 23mpg at best.

If you don't like it then don't look at them than you woun't have to moan about them.

There are people out there who like to not only drive quickly but also like to do it as cheaply as possible so best leaving those people alone to get the best MPG from their car that they want to.
Bit of an oxymoron that, don't you think?

My 2017 ST3 with mountune from factory averages 30mpg , if i give it some welly it drops to 27mpg and i have never seen 35mpg even on a motorway run , but it wasnt bought for the mpg , i just drive it and enjoy it , a couple of miles per gallon if i drive like Miss Daisy seems a bit pointless.

I've never had good fuel economy from any of my cars and don't care but my ST is getting more and more thirsty so more worried maybe something's wrong?
I got it last July and the trip was showing just 29.8, a bit bit less than expected but fair enough.
Daily driver to work which is 3 miles and done without barely getting warmed up of course.
Now same use daily except heated screen on and heated seat lately whereas before it was air con but slowly dropping day by day to just 22.9 yesterday.
50,00 mile car with recent oil change and not yet done anything else to it service or mod wise.
The only other thing is on last tank full I used E10 when I usually use E5 so hoping this might be something to do with it. Will go E5 again on the next fill and see if it improves unless any other ideas what's causing it before I waste time and money at the Ford dealership?
Also when are plugs and belts due? Previous owners dad owned a garage so I don't really know if it was pampered or just got an oily rag.

Use of E10 affects fuel efficiency so you will get fewer miles per gallon, as it has a lower calorific value due to it containing 5% more ethanol than E5.

There's a few Miss Daisy's on this forum if you look at what they claim to get mpg

That mpg is poor , might be worth taking a spark plug out and noting the condition , if they are a medium brown colour all is well but if they are black it points to over fuelling or even worse oil contamination.
