How Often Do You Wash In The Winter?

1133 Views 42 Replies 36 Participants Last post by  Russeh
Just wondering what other members on here do in the winter regarding washing their beloved ST?

Im known by the neighbours as "the lad who has no life other than cleaning his car"! as every weekend im out cleaning it, but in the winter i try and only do it once a month rather than once a week as i can spend 3 hours on a sunday afternoon for me to go to work monday morning and undo all my hard work.

I know you should try and keep the salt off the car, but surely in this modern day with modern paints it should affect the car to much surely?

its not been done for 13 days now and it looks horrible!!

Don't think mines been washed for a month
I used to wash it every weekend which then turned into every 3 weeks, and finally it has turned into letting somebody else clean it every other week (forgotten these last few weeks
).

I'd say every other week mate or whenever it's not raining

It gets washed EVERY week no matter what the weather,i go to work in the dark and return in the dark so don't notice it untill the weekend
still done mine every week and quick detail it so long as its not raining keeps the salt and dirt building up on the car. but then again i do have an ocd for cleaning the car

Just don't wash it when the weather is too cold, otherwise you will end up with a driveway that represents an ice-rink for a couple of days - I found that out the hard way last year

I'm ashamed to admit that mine is cleaned prior to any meets in summer, maybe 2 or 3 times, but spends the winter uncleaned.

Used to wash our cars a lot before my son arrived, but now prefer weekends out as a family.

I clean mine every weekend, am I sad because I enjoy washing it? The next door neighbour thinks I'm mad, he asked 'why do you look after your car like you do? I never clean mine.' I think it is easier and quicker to clean the car if you do it regularly, the dirt doesn't build up. Anyway recently sold a MG ZT that I had for 3 years, got a really good price for it, as it was in immaculate condition. The dealer resold it within days! Not bad for a car that everyone said I was mad to buy in the first place....
ill only do it once in the winter

why bother? it gets dirty as soon as you drive down the road...

I cant remember the last time my car was washed, it still has mud up the side from Oulton park 13th Nov and it was dirty before then

Was laid off two weeks ago, so mine has been washed, clayed, polished and waxed and washed another twice since.

Not much else to do at moment. Might give her another sponging in the morning and another skin of wax. Weather permitting.

Not very often at this time of year, the last wash it received was about a month ago, and that was after 4000+ miles without a wash, yes it was in a horrible mess.

I wash the
everytime I've been out in her at this time of year.

The roads are terrible, if it's not cow
then it's road salt. I can't leave all that under the wheel arches.

I go for the rally look this time of year, more mud the better.
I washed mine 2 weeks ago thought it looked stunning and had to go out in it......2 hours later it was manky again and has stayed that way. Might motivate myself to clean it tomorrow

Mine was last done 21st November up at Profile Automotive. Will probably give it quick wash tomorrow before our Milton Keynes meet.
The wife washes mine every week even if it's raining and she should be greatfull she is let out of the cage for than long.

Hmmm did catch her drinking quick detail last week though, maybee she's trying to polish up her act

Your over half doesn't have access on here then

The good thing about not washing your car in this weather is you get anthracite (look) wheel's for free, until some numbnuts put their fingers on them
