As above, was really disappointed with the perfomance. The current
is what it should have been in the first place.

I had one some 6 years ago it was my first resonably quick car.

Was a nice starter hot hatch handled nicely, wasnt quick but with some hard driving it was rewarding.

However always wished i had saved for another 6 months and got an RS.

I've still got my
170. It's a great handling car but sadly lacking in the power department. Mine's got climate, xenons, esp & factory fit rear spoiler.

I keep her as my daily driver & it makes me appreciate my
3 so much more!!!

I had 2 of them.

I enjoyed the first one so much I traded it in as soon as the Fiesta came out in 3dr with the 1.6 motor
I can still remember one of the letters I wrote to Ford complaining about faults etc saying I found the car was not exciting to drive. I also resented being an unpaid QC tester for the first ones off the production line.

Second one was much more fault-free and Imperial Blue
still lacked mega performance but handled nice and sweet and had Custom pack and EATC - I made the mistake of test driving one with the leather seats lol. Looked nice with the RS upper grill and satin black lower bumper plastics

Decent enough car but only ever a mild hatch imho you really had to flog it to make it shift and the tall gear ratios didn't do it any favours in this department.

I owned an
170 for 3 years fully loaded in imperial blue the best colour imho, downside there was not much you can do to increase performance without spending
serious money.

I had an ST170 in Sea Gray the only thing i did to it was install Bluefin chip and i loved it. If i had really thought it through i should have kept it instead of exchanging it in and had the ST2 too.

That's why I kept mine. They are not worth much on the second hand market & it's good to have her to use when the roads are filthy. I've had my 02 since 2004 & it's been a great car.

I had a 2.0 Zetec - lowered, Momo 18's, GT2 kit, Filter,Exhaust etc ... loved it, great handling and it went pretty well too

The ST225 is in a different league for performance, though... even as std

I had one for 3 yrs and would definately have another.

Funny thing is I never used it to commute to work to keep the mileage down and used to be very paranoid about it getting damaged or stolen and would jump out of bed at the slightest sound but with the 225 I am not really bothered (not as much any way) about it.

I had an ST170 before ST ownership (going back a while now) - It was an Imperial blue 3 door with both custom and comfort packs. Whilst it drove very well, it was very flat at low revs and never quite had enough character to the engine. The biggest issue was always the small design faults i.e sticky gearboxes, rattling gearlever at high revs - there are plenty more like this, and it's those little things that ruined the experience.
I have had 2, the second was a replacement for the first... By far the worse car I have owned (and I have owned a lot lol).

SAying that the later ones are much better than the early ones.
I had a '54 plate in silver. Loved it, but the rattling cat bracket/heat shield drove me to buying my ST3. Looked the nuts with the factory spoiler.
Pretty sure its in the Middlesborough/Toon area now.
