Hello all, looking to pick up my first ST this Friday. It's a mk3 on a 14 plate with 48k miles. One thing that did grab my attention was some of the paperwork, there is an invoice for a new clutch at 38k. Is this a common problem or possibly down to a dodgy map or another reason?

TIA

Welcome to the club :)
A new clutch at this mileage would be unusual unless there were engine mods substantially pushing up the torque.

From the other receipts with the service manual there doesn't appear to be any record of any upgrades, the car looks stock. I'll call the garage who did the work when I go back on Fri and see if they know anything. My last car had had a clutch replacement as someone had removed the torque restrictor  I only found that out when it went in for a map.

Does sound ominous, my car is on 83k and still running Perfect the original clutch.
