Are there any good Ford garages in the Newcastle / Durham area? I know there are quite a few members around that area, it would be good to know where you will trust with your ST.

I need to find a good garage to service the ST for its 60K service, its two years six months old. The car has never been to a service with me, its previous owner had it done at Nationwide Autocentres. The place I bought it from had it serviced at a performance specialist in Harrogate and I've only ever had older cars serviced at independents that didn't offer to stamp the book.

I've had no help or even a friendly hello from either of the Ford dealerships in Middlesbrough or Stockton-on-Tees when asking about parts or when trying to get the auto locking sorted so am reluctant to use them to do it.

I think its last service in warranty should be done at a Ford garage as I would like to think they will check over any possible ST specific issues before it leaves, but I'm a cynic and suspect they'd just put it through as normal.

The only other place I have considered is Profile in Stockpot but thats a rather long way to go, and I'd have to spend more than just getting it serviced

I have used Arnold Clark formerly Pattersons at Shiremoor for my last 3 Focus's and had no problems, one Focus was getting it's 3year service and they replaced the power steering pump which i did not know was leaking.ST225 (Eric) he uses Jennings at Dunston just off the A1 he say's they are good,as it is coming up to 3 years old i would take it to a ford dealer incase anything needs doing under warranty

I had heard good things about the Ford dealer at Dunston too, I'll give them both a ring I think and see what the prices are like.

Should Ford dealers all charge the same amount for the service?

Any other recommendations of good service from Ford dealers welcome

I got my last service done at Holiways, the only reason for this is they are a Mountune dealer and I was getting catback fitted at same time so I got a bit knocked off.

I rang Jennings up at Gateshead for a price and they were slightly cheaper for the service than Holiways, but they will try and beat any prices you have been quoted from other Ford dealerships.

It will be worth getting it done at a main dealer if there are any warranty issues.

Arnold Clark @ shiremoor are pretty good, as are Cramlington Ford. Depending where you go and how good they are at their job, they may try a charge you for a 3rd year service which includes replacing the spark plugs. A 60k service is just a basic oil change service. I would check through your service history and see when it last had plugs. If it needs them, buy the RS ones off the net, got mine from Team Torquesteer for £46 i think (cheaper than Ford trade prices). Ford will try and empty your pockets for £90 for plugs. You could get your own odour filter and change it yourself which should knock another £20 off or so. Also, if you decide to go with Arnold Clark, check their website as they sometimes run offers on servicing ie 20% off etc.

I would aim to get a service without plugs for somewhere around £120. I got my 2nd year service at Arnold Clark Shiremoor for £146 but that was with a brake fluid change. Its worth trying to haggle. I can tell you that the parts even inlcuding the odour filter will only come to around £50.

I found this friendly truck driver from the Hartlepool area driver to fit my springs, is that the same fella you mean Andy?

Cheapest servicing on Teesside would be Holliways in Hartlepool, Jennings in Stockton have always been very thorough with my cars too, car is always cleaned and seatbelts plugged in too.

Thanks for all the replies, looks like I've got some more people to call and get prices from today.

I'll have to check the book but for £46 I'd change the plugs for the RS ones myself. I've already done the oil and brake pad change, all I'm after for the 60K is a stamp in my book and a check on a few warranty questions.
