Gap Insurance

Thinking I best get me some Gap insurances sorted out since just looked at Parkers and the 3 year old price for a new ST2 is just over 9K

Anyone got any recomendations on who to use and care to say what you went for. Thinking cover upto 10K over a 3 year period should be adequate and coste effective at around £160.

Just took out cover last night for my Mondeo.

£15000 cover for 3 years. Deferring start date for 6 months as insurance policy would replace car with a new one in first year anyway. Therefore, car is covered until it's 3.5 years old.

I took the new car replacement at £215
Was £172 for return to invoice.

Company was Direct Gap

Cover applies even if keys are stolen and cover can be cancelled at anytime within the 3 years with proportionate refund of money paid.

PS Moved your post to the insurance/finance section.

Only £9k
me thought it would be higher than that.

If you are going to mod the car in anyway I would recommend saving your money. I looked into it lots when I got my new motor and rang half a dozen and they all told me the same thing.... It doesn't matter if you notify your insurance of the modifications, you may still have valid car insurance BUT any modifications will make the GAP insurance VOID.

So I obviously didn't bother

I did exactly the same with the ST as well, with the same company.

Scott,

seanyb is correct.

Check out section 3.1 of your policy. Insurance is invalid if car is modified in anyway.

My Mondeo isn't. But what about your ST?

Mine is cosmetically modified, not mechanically. It can all be removed without issue

I have just checked the policy and its doesn't say anything on mine at all

Thanks for the heads up though!!

What about mountune since that is covered by warranty and is recognised on insurance?

Have bought it but only got cover for 10K as unless it was well into the 3rd year I doubt the ST would be less than 10-12K surely. May still cancel it and take it out again at 12.5 or 15 as got 14 days I suppose.
