The square holds the the radar for the adaptive cruise control, collision detection and something else but a bit brain fade is preventing me remembering.

Not sure if this has been answered already, but any idea what (if any) the purpose of the square on the bottom front grill is for? Or is it just a weird design choice? Has any one come across a replacement grill that doesnt have one?
