I have an idea that I believe all members would benefit from. Giving and receiving "Thanks". If you look (for example) at AVForums the members can give "thanks" for a good piece of advice. These stats are then shown within a members profile info. Thanks buttons are placed in the individual threads for other members to press.

We tried it not long ago, but it wasn't used as it was intended so it was removed.

The new software comes with a similar "reputation" system where thanks can be given to a particular post and even add comments. It is currently running successfully on focusrsoc.com. I am sure we will give it a try when we upgrade and see if people want to use it correctly.

Sounds like a good idea as long as people can be bothered to use it correctly...

The problem is that a significant number don't.
It drives a different set of behaviours (not necessarily for the better).

It works perfectly well on AVForums, so what you're basically saying is that we are all untrustworthy monkeys, who love nothing more than mucking about and screwing up everything that we can!

I have to agree the 'thanks' idea will never work on here...
