Morning guys, my ST is just about three years old now.
Has anyone taken out Ford Extended Warranty, it has AA Cover and MOT Repair included
As with most things, when they are out of warranty they always seem to have something go, so it was just a quick question to see if anyone has it because knowing my luck the suspension will leak like it did on my Cupra and they shockers aren't cheap

I extended mine by another 3 years but without breakdown as I get that for servicing with a Ford dealer anyway. Didn’t want to worry about a headlight going after needing one replaced on my mk3.5.

As far as I know it’s the same policy as the base warranty in that it must follow the recommended service schedule and use genuine parts. I haven’t read in to it though as I use a dealer for servicing anyway.

Think I'll just do the same, then they can't argue anything.
Problem is I'm waiting on my local one to contact me about its third service and what it gets, still waiting after 3 days.
If they don't answer today I'll go to another as thar doesn't look good about how they work

the wifes fiesta st line has got a leaking rear shock so as its still under warranty i contacted fords to be told its not covered unless its a serious leak,as its just a misting of oil at this stage.
the warrantys arent worth it in my opinion as they just try to get out of everything

When I brought my then year old 66 plate mk3.5 ST2 Diesel back in 2017 I decided to take the three year extended warranty with the Ford Dealer which then started as soon as the manufacturers warranty expired. That cost me £500. I guess they are probably more now.

During those three years I had three sensors go. I was told by the dealer that the first one would have cost £500 to replace so I'm guessing I had around £1500 of work done on the warranty with all three.

One of the sensors controlled the DPF which then blocked and would not regenerate. The dealer wanted £1500 for a new DPF as the warranty wouldn't cover it.

I got the DPF cleaned independently for £300 which then worked fine.
Warranties won't cover wear and tear. My son has recently had his central locking system go down on his mk3.5 Titanium and it wasn't covered under the extended warranty as it was caused by corrosion which was deemed wear and tear.

As my late dad used to say 'Warranties are a godsend if you have something go that's covered under the warranty and a waste of money if you don't have anything go wrong'. In other words it's a bit of a gamble. Some you win, some you lose.

Personally when my manufacturers warranty runs out on my mk4.5 I'll look to take the extended warranty.
If the Sync system goes down, god knows who much that will be to replace.

when my mk3.5 xenon pointed to the ground (the well-known broken wire), the [email protected] at the dealer tried the "wear and tear" routine on me. Luckily I was able to escalate it to some service manager inside Ford and they rolled over and swapped the headlamp at 4 years old under the extended warranty. We all know what those things cost.

When mine did that my dealer swapped the cluster from a demo/stock car, ordered a new one then had me in to fit the replacement when it arrived, no arguments or issues.
Warranty customer service can vary widly between dealers.

I think I'll take the warranty, not that I hope something goes wrong but it would be good that it covers something worthwhile like the headlights some of you have had or even suspension, a couple of the shockers go and it must be about a grand for a pair
Thanks for the inputs guys, it helped make my mind up

Hi, I’m about to buy a 3 year old Fiesta from a Ford dealer and have gone for the 3 year warranty. Dealer says that we can get it serviced elsewhere so long as they use genuine Ford parts AND the garage we use is VAT registered. I haven’t had the paperwork yet but can’t see anything online that says the garage must be VAT registered. (Have always had our Honda serviced at our local garage who is not VAT registered and would be keen to still use him.) Does anyone on here know? Thanks

Morning Clairr
It does have to be VAT Registered unfortunately, that's why I just went to Ford and got it done, by the time you buy the genuine parts it worked out just over 100 in labour so might aswell get the genuine stamp.
Just wish the garage I went to actually fitted the parts I paid for but that's another story
