Hi - only had my ST3 2 weeks and its developed an engine oil leak.
Took it to Ford Dealer - he can't find the leak.
It seems ok on idle but when you take it for a run - that's when it leaks - so they think it might be the turbo.
Anyone had a similar problem or know how to check for the turbo?

I may have to take it to a specialist (SCC St Albans)!!
Anyone got a spare turbo or selling one?

Thanks,

Mark

The Turbo oil return pipe occasionally leaks - but only if it has been messed with

It is unlikely that the turbo would be leaking (externally anyway) as the only other oil pipe is the turbo oil feed - and when they leak you get alot of smoke under the bonnet as the oil runs over the red hot turbo.

However we have seen on several occasions the oil breather pipe become disconnected under the plastic rocker cover - the oil mist builds until it starts to run down the back of the engine - A very easy fix if it is.

Otherwise In the past we have seen oil leaks from the following

Oil filter housing gasket
Oil filter breather hose (the early plastic ones split and leak oil mist down the front of the engine)
Sump (cracked alloy sump) only if driven over enthusiastically - forum members will remain nameless

Turbo Oil return pipe
Crank oil seals (only ever had one of these)

Hi Wolfman - a good few things to try - thanks - the Ford garage have cecked over it but couldn't find the leak. Thry changed a gasket and a pipe - but need to check what these were.
I may try SCC in St Albans so at least I can run those ideas past them.

Will post the resolution when its fixed!!

Thanks,

Mark
