Hi guys, and best wishes for a great 2010 for all of you ! Now, here's my concern :

How often do you clean your DS filter? With what method/tools/substances? Do you do it yourself? If not, how much did they charge you?

If your DS kit uses the K&N filter element just clean as you would for a K&N. There's a specific K&N elemet cleaning kit available -£12 or so for the cleaning solution and an aerosol tin of recharger oil. Full instructions included and quite straight forward.

It has the KN mushroom cone filter that DS uses for the DS CAIS for the ST.

troy 45 is correct - its easy, ive done it on an older k&n cone filter - so i know its easy

The instructions on the KN site are for the panle filters. Are they exactly the same for cone/mushroom filters as well?

Sure are

The filter medium is the same for the cone filters, just different shape obviously.
