Hi,

Just a quick one, im sure its normal but was just wondering what it was. When i get in and dont switch on straight away or turn off the car and sit there there, thre is a strange noise from behind the wheel, maybe up under the pedals behind the dials. its only short and ends with like a clunk.

Like i say i think its normal

The clunk once you've turned off is the steering wheel lock applying. It could also be the shut down of the engine when something locks in place (vvt?)

Yeh. About 3 minutes after you've turned engine off it will apply. Stops the wheel from being turned when engine is off. Security feature.

If the click happens just after the engine has turned off I think it's the vvt thing. Perfectly normal.

after you hear this noise press the clutch pedal and you will hear it again, the steering lock comes off when the clutch is depressed
