You might have to go aftermarket to get a CD player - but they are getting rare now. Since I fitted a head unit with a USB port several years ago I've never played a CD, so when that unit failed I had no hesitation in buying one with no CD player. Frees up space too as I don't have to store CDs in the car.

I use a tiny one that can store hundreds of CDs. Most brands have them. I leave it permanently plugged in and nobody notices it.

I have purchased a CD player that connects via a USB. The handbook states there should a USB connection via the sources screen. It does not appear on my sources screen. Has anybody come across this and if so do they have an answer.

Maybe it needs to be plugged in before the radio will know its there to enable it to appear on the screen to be selected?

Tried that and the CD powers up, but will not play thru sync system and still no USB showing on sources screen.

My I pod is permanently connected to car via USB , all my music is on there .
Otherwise I connect by mobile via Bluetooth , if you have Spotify then happy days.

Maybe the USB is not giving enough power to actually run the CD player, just enough to show power is connected?

The external CD player I had for my laptop had a branch in the USB cable ending in 2 USB plugs and and you had to plug both of them in to get enough power to work.

Hi Malcolm did you manage to sort this? I'm currently trying to source a cd player for my father in law with a new Fiesta that doesn't come with a cd player. I've looked at the adaptiv add-on aftermarket unit, apparently you need to put a cd in and wait for about 30 seconds for it to index the cd before it shows up as a USB under the source screen.
