Not surprised at all. It will be interesting to see what McLaren can do with the current and former World Champs in their fold.
Isn't this just 'according' to newspapers at the moment?
There hasnt been any official news to say he has joined McLaren, or has there?
Foz did you not click the link?

Part of me is excited about the prospect of it but I am still not sure if this is best for Button as it is well known that Mclaren usually have a favorite driver. No guesses who that would be in the mix. But this remains to be seen. If Button can get the car and team going well for him it should make for an interesting season.

That's a shame.

If Button had stayed at Brawn/Mercedes, then Lewis would have had "Red 5" as his number next year!!

Lewis Hamilton in a decent car at Silverstone with "Red 5" would have been cool.

But it's not to be. He'll have number 2 on his car as Button's team mate.

Numbers 5 and 6 will go to Red Bull with Vettel and Weber.

I read it on Pistonheads yesterday, not sure if they are a reliable source or not!

The BBC mostly are though!
It will be an awesome dream team, although i think over the whole season LH will have the upper hand over JB! I think the pull of a good salary, driving for an iconic team and racing against one of the best drivers of the current line up in the same car was too much for JB!

Sticking with Mercedes GP would have made more sense because the Honda/brawn/mercedes team has pretty much been built around JB.

I think Rubens will do alright at Williams! He is a top bloke and a good racer, but don't think he'd like being in the shadows of Lewis!! He has the opportunity to be a team leader and try and develop the team and the car around him. Podiums are possible, but race wins maybe out of reach!
I'm not convinced he's done the right thing. McClaren are based around Hamilton and that will hurt JB.
And I like them both!
Hmmm the reigning world champion joins a team and essentially becomes their no.2 driver.

To be fair to Mclaren, they do tend to run equal cars early in the season up until one of their drivers starts to get a lead on the other, then they concentrate their efforts on him. Just happens that LH gets the best out of the car and as a result gets the development bits first. It won't be a walk in the park for JB or equally for LH, but it certainly will be interesting and exciting for the fans!!

i think button will do well there, maclaren ahd a far stronger finish to the season than brawn, plus ross brawn sold the team and pocketed 40m which means (apparently) he wont have as much say in the running which could have effected jenson. Plus, lets be honest, double your money everywhere else is too much to say no too! i mean a 1m increase for winning the title and basically lifting brawnGP to the top is a bit poor when the principal pocketed 40m!
I can understands peoples conserns over him going to McClaren but i honestly think its a great thing, i believe lewis will be the stronger of the 2 tho. Now lets hope we get a british to watch it!
You can't blame someone for wanting a good job with the best possible wages. I think he's made the right choice.

yeah totally agree, its not just the money though is it i mean he's been in a mid field team since forever i think to drive for Ferrari or McClaren is a ambition for all F1 drivers

A very famous colour and number Choccy , i too would have liked to see Lewis with Red 5 .... That would bring back some very good memories

My only concern with Lewis and Jenson at Mclaren will be Mclarens ability to produce a car with enough scope for setting it up to 2 very different driving styles . Lewis will want something that has a tendancy towards oversteer where as Jenson will want a more neutral handling package . If either has to adapt to the others style because of car set up limitations , i think Lewis will be better at adapting to Jensons set-up as opposed to the other way around
