my car luckly has full ford service, i know this doesnt mean anything within the scale of things, but my bloody cam belt was changed at ford by the pre owner 4000 miles ago, else i would just bit the bullet and get it done to be on the safe side.

so why does the liners fail, why does this happen ???
Heat kills them - hence why modded cars seem to go through liners quicker as power = heat. They are prone to it as (as far as i know about the subject) ford cut channels in between the cylinders to increase the cooling capabilities of the block but at the same time they weakened the cylinder walls by taking material out of them - and ultimately in some cases they crack.

It's more of a preventative thing there's no way of telling if it's going to go or not. I did mine for piece of mind when I first bought the car a few years ago after hearing about them cracking! mine needed a timing belt so it made sense to have it done at the same time. As for where, not sure, I know dreamscience do it which isn't overly far in Hull. I'm sure someone knows somewhere closer though!
