Bit Confused

hi all

im currently in the middle of a claim to get my car sorted after some little
stole it now the problem i have is the insurance company have the car at 1 of there recommended garages and the work has already started on getting the car sorted out now i havent sent any paper work to the insurance company because when i went to the garage to ask about the progress off the car they said they were waiting for parts to come in so i then asked do i need to send anything to my insurance company he said no!! only send things to them if the car is written off is this info right??

now the insurance company are asking for the v5,mot,driving licence they are saying they cant do anything else until they have these documents but the work has already started on the car???????

so do i need to send the docs off or do i just wait untill i have heard from the garage as i cant see y they would want my docs as the car is getting fixed the insurance company dont seem to know whats goin on as when i phoned them the otherday they said that the car was not being done yet as they needed my docs but when i went to the garage they said that they had stripped the broken parts off and the insurance gave them the ok to order the new parts so what should i be doing??

You need to speak to your insurers about this & be quite firm with them in getting it sorted. Maybe speak to the claims manager & ask them what exactly is going on. Just tell them what you've said on here and they should give you an explanation.

I must admit it does sound a bit strange but I wouldn't worry too much as insurers usually are in control of the situation.

If i remember right, they were about to pay out - as your car hadn't been recovered... maybe the request for info relates to this... .

There could be 2 claims on the system open for you.
1. To repair the car.
2. The car is never going to be found, therefore a settlement.

As above, speak to a manager and get it cleared up.

thanks for the replys this all just baffles me as im getting told 2 different things car is being fixed and the car isnt so would the insurance need the car docs if the car was being fixed?? i know they would want them if the car is writen off as they would own the car after settlement.

in the case of an accident would the insurance ask for ure car docs if the car was goin to be repaired??

hi m8 as ure an insurance company would u ask for the v5,mot and licence if the car was goin to be repaired?? after it was stolen or is this a normal thing that any claim that u make u have to sent off these documents??

No, you usually only get asked for them once the car is written off.
