Arnold's can do it quick... I know they keep a stock of them... Go for the lang Stracht one though.

Because the Volvo engine is quite complicated I'd stick with people who know what they are doing £400 I believe.

Are you quite good with fixing motors?

If you want to fit it yourself or know someone who can fit it i could perhaps sort you out with a new alternator.

Would offer to do it for you but i stay 2 hours away from you.

not yet he was away fixing his own first dave, but the dreaded airbox is out. Finish in the morning hopefully
How easy is this to replace ourselves? How much are just the alternators?
Alternators from ford retail at £160 and some pennies plus the VAT, There is also a £60.00 plus VAT surcharge on the old unit.

Some of you may not know, the "NEW" alternators ford supply are not technically new, they are remanufactured in the ford approved plant to as new condition using refurbished core parts.

90% of starters/alternators and other core vehicle parts are remanufactured these days by most vehicle manufacturers.

Not that it matters, just some useless info for you...

Its been a while since i last done one but i THINK it takes about 2 -3 hours to change the alternator..

Ok for sure the worst is past courtesy of a new battery and altenator but now my stereo wont accept the keycode. Am i right in thinking this is a book in job at a ford dealer to get re-set or is there a diy trick of the trade

The 'supplying' dealer should be able to provide this FOC.... ? If you know who that was (should say in the service book)?
Tried the original dealer but he only had the same keycode as i had Marc. I'm going round to Taylors in the morning see if they can help
