hi all.. asked a while back about what price to expect to get an idea. Phoned my local ford dealer and got a quote for £349 for a 3rd service.. now I'm sure I've seen someone on here say they paid £180 which included an MOT. Kind of suck where I am as most of the ford dealers have been bought up by one large one. Anyone got any advise on a fair 3rd service price?

There are three sequential services for the ST and I think that the third service is the dear one. The price you have been quoted is about right. My last one was £170 and the next one is the dear one. Remember that if it needs brakes/discs etc it will be extra!

My local dealership is doing a scheme where you pay £400 and get the next two services and MOT's. On Ford prices that means that means the second one will only cost £50, and the MOT's are free.

You might find that some of the site sponsors will offer servicing cheaper than Ford.

Had my third service done in December for £245. No mot included but a fair bit cheaper than your being quoted and that is london prices!

Caffyns Ford Haslemere just quoted me £189 for 3rd year, after calling other local dealers had to call back and check they got it right, LOL yes they are doing a deal for next 3 months on serving, over £300 for plug, oil and filter change is an absolute rip off, the Ford parts can be had for about £100!!!!!! no wonder we call them fraud stealers

Cheers.. sounds a bargain and although 40 miles each way from me it would be well worth it. Will give them a try. Anyone one else on the South Coast know any good ones?

That's right chev.

I've just had my 3rd service and MOT done at my local Ford/RS specialist (Ian Cranston) and £349 is very steep IMO.

I haven't had my final bill from the garage yet, but they quoted me £45 labour, £40 parts (oil, filters etc), £20 for some new number plates (as my old ones didn't have a postcode on for MOT) which comes to £105 plus vat, although that didn't include plugs as the car only has 20k miles on it and plugs need doing at 37k.

I did need 4 new tyres though which added £470 to the expected bill!!

Just been quoted the same today mate from Hendy Romsey. Plus they want £11.75 admin fee for a courtesy car! What an absolute disgrace.

Might look into that Haslemere place - thanks for the post MrMoonX

Or wait until I'm next up at Dreamscience, if they do service. Perfect opportunity to get the RS spark plugs put in.

Have u tried Tremona in millbrook? Only problem with them is they don't have a courtesy car, and you have to leave your car with them all day.

I was thinking about that but Ideally I wanted to keep book stamped up with main dealer, just think it looks better in the book when sellin on with Ford stamps throughout?

Depends I guess, I use a Ford Specialist and their stamp mentions Ford so looks good enough to me - it wouldn't stop me buying a car.

I've had our Civic serviced at Honda at ridiculous cost just to keep the dealer stamps and we are currently looking to PX that for a BMW 335 - the Honda stamp makes no difference to the PX price at BMW after all that work/expense in keeping the dealer stamps

Tremona in Southampton quoted me £275 which is better than Frauds, but still higher than I was hoping to pay for an oil and filter change and spark plugs with a 'Ford' stamp in my book. He did say it was a 2 hour job though with all the checks.

Am gonna get a quote from Gowrings in Basingstoke too.

Mine's not due until April, but if there are special offers going around like at Caffyns I might book it well in advance to take advantage of it. But Hendys can take a running jump at £349!
