Track Rod Ends & Tie Rods

So bit of a loss as to what to do the weekend, and while trying to find the ever-giving knock on my car was thinking the track rod ends and tie rods are looking a bit tired. So was thinking of replacing them.

Now I have contacted Ford parts and they are pretty pricey to be honest.

Are their any alternative brands that people could recommend, for those parts is it important to get Ford only or other brands ok as well?

Is your car lowered as if it is you can get the Hardrace bits to replace them with. Even if you aren't they are spot on as they are pretty much a fit & forget about option. Had the RCA kit & parts on my old 500 & they were great.

 We have Hardrace Tie Rod Ends for £65 a pair delivered and can add a pair of genuine Ford Tie Rods for £130.
You beat me to it!!!

So not sure I will be getting the Ford drop links, are the FEBI Prokit drop links any good? They seem fairly cheap at £13 each!

Or the hardrace ones but are they any good for a normal car and by that I mean one that won't be going around the track.

Meyle are probably the best quality other than genuine Ford but make sure you get the HD parts not just the normal Meyle.

In this case I would be going for the Hardrace RCA kit & droplinks. I had them on my old 500 & they were spot on & pretty much fit & forget about! Along with the hardrace rear end bits I had it got the car handling like it was on rails.

Don't recall Ford ones being mega expensive when mine were changed last year (at Collins performance). Switch cured a knock which was occurring over uneven ground though which was a relief - especially as I'd been chasing the issue for a while! Previous ones had only been on 3 years tops and the bushes were knackered!

About £40 + vat from my local Ford place, gets pricey for 2
Buy cheap, buy twice. These things gets get quite a bit of abuse - especially on **** roads. Could go non-OEM and take the risk they don't last that long - maybe sensible if you're just chasing an issue and aren't 100% sure that droplinks are the issue though...

Collins undid one (or both ends, I forget) on mine and you could feel the clunk on the failed side via a manual manipulation. Seemed a good way to confirm the fault before replacing. Can't remember exactly what they un-did, someone mechanically minded can probably confirm but may save you replacing something that's not faulty...
