Hi guys

 

Once we get back to some sort of normailty after lockdown 3, I'm looking to get two major jobs done on the ST...block mod and RS clutch fitment. There is a deal on at BD Performance that is offering both jobs for £1350. If I factor in petrol and staying overnight somewhere then I'm looking at £1500'ish.

 

SCC at St Albans is literally 7 miles away but they want approx £900 more for this work! Before I commit to BDP, can you guys let me know your experiences of their work? I've looked at a few of their Youtube vids and they seem a very professional setup.

Remember, if you ever need to take the car back for remedial work (hopefully you won't) it will be your liability to pay for the journey.

It is the same as everything, some people have good experiences and some have poor experiences. Unfortunately, mine was the latter. In all fairness I did have a block mod completed and a CP340 remap with actuator, recirc valve and injectors replaced. I also paid to get the last prohose fitted and check all suspension parts and bushes.

The block mod has only had a slight issue, but the remainder well....poor to say the least, and they do not respond to emails. Happy to provide all details, but through PM and this is far from resolved at the moment.

Start digging deeper and I am not alone, there are several people I have encountered including on this forum that have had questionable service and no rectification when problems arise.

I can't comment about any other 'specialist' as this is the only one I have used.

Yes, the journey is an issue if I have problems...a long way to go...but £900 more expensive at SCC!!

I personally had no problems with them had block mod clutch a service and lsd done found them friendly and helpful but I didnt have any issues so cant comment on aftercare 👍

i cant see any offers. i think i will be looking for a clutch replacement quite soon The problem is.Forest of Dean to Wrexham is about 110 miles.

I had a block mod done but not at bd, two visits later after cam cover leak and cam solenoid was fixed all was good, luckily it was only 8 miles away from me. Some times things don't go to plan and a return journey may be needed.... Food for thought.
My only other dealings with bd are my crossover, when it was noticed it was rubbing the paint and alloy off they said it shouldn't rub....... After a few emails too and from they stopped responding.

I did east Suffolk to Wrexham 240 miles 😬 Any garage can do the clutch for you though

the offer is prob for the mk2 bud with block mod 👍 and yeah any half decent garage can do that in a few hours no problem

They have a South Wales branch which is about 50 miles

I did a 320 mile round trip to DS, twice, first time block mod, second time RS clutch & new actuator. All good.

Neither of those jobs requires a specialist, the block mod isn't an official repair but once the head is off it's just carefully hammering in a few shims.

 

The typical Volvo S60 or C30 owner with the same engine probably wouldn't seek out an ST specialist for the same work, look at it like that

South Wales did my Block Mod , RS Clutch, Mfactory Diff and Airtec Plenum .
