Hi ST Owners

Super happy to join the owners club, Ive spent the last year or so searching for an St 500, finally purchased a 3dr 70k from Birmingham area last week.. in excellent condition and complete with a few nice mods, it pulls like a train !!

Its been 20yrs or so since Ive owned a Ford, apart from my work van Transit Custom.. always had a lot of love for fords, my early driving days consisted of mainly Fords ..
Starting off with Escort mk 2 2dr 1.6, and moved onto a Cortina mk4 2.3 ghia, then my favourite hands down.. Capri 3ltr ghia auto! One car I wish I still had lol..also had a black 3ltr S after that, and a few other basic ones I wont mention lol

One thing I wanted to find out is.. why is there no spare in the boot of the St?? Does it go loose in the boot or under the car?
I think I need to sort one out!

Is there any monthly/annual Focus St or Owners club meetings in the london area?

Any info appreciated

Cheers
Tony C

Hi Tony, welcome to the club!

I believe that because of the size of the rear exhaust box and where it sits centrally under the car, the boot floor is flatter and higher up so the cars were never supplied with a spare wheel.... just a can of foam. Someone better informed than myself will be able to confirm whether this is correct though!

Welcome to the club.

As Gaz said, it seems to be a tyre in a can. Personally the most useless thing I have ever seen...

Hahaha tyre in a can yes pretty useless! And if you spray that stuff in your tyre, its going straight in the bin after 🙈

I think its going to have to be a space saver in the boot then, just in case, dont think there is any other option :-/

Thanks fellas .. Gaz & Gadget

Welcome to the club Tony :)

You'll find the space saver comes up in the classifieds here from time to time (in fact just checked and there's one there now).

You need more than the tyre itself but that's all detailed in the relevant part of the forum.

I've just recently bought a spare wheel, jack, insert foam and boot carpet as I didn't fancy getting a puncture and just having to wait for the RAC, I've lost some boot space as a result but its worth it.

If you are still after a tyre, there is one in the classified section here for a Mk2!

Now you need the jack and wheel brace set and the foam
Inserts/ outer foam.
