The announcement detailed below has now been running as a global banner for one week.

"Forum Behaviour

The ethos of this club has always been that it is a friendly place in which you should feel comfortable to relax and share views/information on the ST marque along with other non-car related matters. It is therefore a great shame when the enjoyment of the many becomes diminished by the selfish activity of a few who seem to take pride in creating needless argument and discord thereby interfering with other members ability to enjoy the website. As members of this community, you have all agreed to abide by the published terms and conditions. Failure to do so can ultimately result in denial of access, and those terms specifically state that this sanction may be applied to anyone “who, in our sole judgement, interferes with the ability of others to enjoy our website.”
From this point on, disruptive behaviour of the kind we have recently experienced will not be tolerated. Anyone considered by staff to be guilty of flaming, baiting or general abuse will be placed on moderated posting for an indefinite period. If substantial improvement in behaviour is not then forthcoming, those individuals will be permanently removed from the forum. There will be no further warning."

There were unfortunately a couple of members who chose not to heed the warning, but they have been sanctioned accordingly. For everyone else, we seem to have re-established the more harmonious environment that we used to enjoy so the banner will be retired this evening.

This post will remain in place however as a gentle reminder that its terms will continue to be enforced by staff.

Please read the following announcement from the club Staff and Admin team:

For anyone logging in over the last few days it will have been impossible to miss the SOS (Save Our Steve) thread.

Though purporting to be something different, its primary purpose has been to attack the hard work undertaken by staff over many years to make this a thriving, safe and friendly place.

The only "crime" of staff has been the application of club rules.

To clarify an important fact, club rules and their application are pretty much the same now as they were a decade ago when the club was formed and many of the current staff were members if not staff that long ago so there has been continuity of both understanding and application.

Nothing has changed in the recent past

There is unfortunately a very small minority who despise the club rules and would embrace change that could enable the vociferous few to indulge in what can reasonably be described as anarchy.

They have been happy and willing to damage the club ethos, denigrate staff and cause untold disruption in order to achieve their aim.

Some of this activity is recent, but some individuals have been working against the interests of the club for a considerable period of time.

Those changes are not going to happen and the individuals who oppose the club ethos are not going to be permitted to continue their disruptive behaviour.

Accordingly, a number of members have today been permanently removed from the club.

The decision to do this was made after extensive deliberation by the staff, taking into consideration both recent and past behaviour.

It carries the agreement and support of all staff, and must be considered final and irrevocable.

This action is not open to negotiation or amendment, so no personal or forum discussion on the subject will be permitted.

All of those affected have been directly and personally notified of the club's decision.

Further removals may take place if we believe this is justified.
