yep thats right the clutch is classed as a wearable item and is there for not covered by the warrent. Though it might be worth asking about if its the release bearing as i think its only certain parts of it that are excluded from warrenty, best of luck though no doubt it will be an uphill struggle.
if you do end up having to pay for it yourself i recommend you speak with Gary at profile as they do a great deal on the stronger RS clutch.

Yeah guessed that, in fact which warranty company is a good one LOL!
The annoying thing is my clutch is perfect and nothing wrong with it, the problem i have is the car is making a tapping noise when the clutch is up and when it depressed and goes away, there is a post about it in the tech forum!
What I have been told its it possibly a faulty clutch bearing! I am guessing the bearing should be covered as the car is only 2 1/2 years old and only covered 28K!
The garage said it a no brainer to replace the clutch while they have the gearbox out. One guy said it would be a few quid then i got quoted for parts only the clutch would be £210 and the bearing is £104
Really unsure what to do now!
If its a bearing thats noisey will it cause any damage to the car?

true
that sounds very cheap to me i doubt there replacing the whole thing at those prices, normally if you change the clutch you replace the DMF at the same time. half the cost in all this is labour so if it was me i'd want it all changed properly or you might end up paying out again in another 20k miles.
i had signs of clutch slip when i had mountune fitted and obviously i went stright back to the dealer that fitted it, he basically just reitterated that the clutch is a wearable item and that if they inspected it and it turned out to be a manufacturing defect then ford would pay otherwise i' have to. So if you're turns out to be a manufacturing defact you should make them pay, trouble is by this point they've got the gearbox out and got you by the short and curlies.
I'm no machanic but i think the noise with the bearing is when it dosnt fully disengaged, i would imagen that this probablly has some impact on the clutch/gearbox. i'm sure somone with more mechanical knowledge could advise you

if your clutch release bearing is noisey then surely they should just replace that part under warranty after all the garage has said that the release bearing is at fault .i think that the garage is just chancing there arm in trying to persuade you to have a new clutch ok if the clutch is slipping, really heavy or really high then yes change it but you say she drive s fine . just my opinion .

There is definitely no slipping of the clutch what so ever.
Been in to 3 garages now and they have all said a bearing is not covered under warranty

basically no, i've not had it happen in months which could be that i'm subconsciously drving arround it though. bottom line is if it does go i'll have ot shell out
Not good mate. I'm considering the ST260 upgrade at the moment. Not sure whether to risk it now. Despite the clutch being considered a consumable part, the ford / mountune approved warranty should cover it. Neither ford / mountune wants to address the problem it seems.
