As said above. All you need to do is turn the key blade in the lock.
If you have the keyless you need the blade from inside the fob, it's small and hard to turn so you can either use ppliars or there is an indent in the actual fob - put that over it.

If you have normal keys, you need the spare - just manually twist it I the lock.

i have a facelift, got pushy start but no keyless entry

i can get in with the keys in my pocket, start the car and leave the car with the keys in my pocket, this is where im unsure,

ive never tried locking the car when its running and im out of the vehicle, also ive walked probably 40 feet away from the car and it was still running, but if you got in the car it would say "key not present" (so ive been told by a passenger)

I tried it today just to see if it can be done and it did lock

Opened car started with power button and got out with fob in hand and it popped on dash key not present
Used key out of fob in door and it locked with engine running.

Still wouldn't advise tho doing it would rather get cold for a few mins than chance a scumbag havin it away

thanks for the info

well i drive to work at 04;30 and this week its been cold, consistently below -4 degrees, however i havent got the time to wait for it to warm up, so start the car (all the heated stuff comes on automatically) wait 1-2 mins for idle to drop and screen to clear then drive off.

wont the car lock on the fob? or has the key gotta be used?

forgot to say i live on a farm in the middle of nowhere lol, so no scum bags around especially at the hour i go to work lol

Am i really being thick but you are leaving the keys, the one thing that stops the car from being nicked (hence why scrotes have to break in to get them before nicking your car etc) in your car.

Why not just leave a sign on the car saying break glass and pinch and while you are at it leave all your bank cars with the pin number writtne on it in the ash tray fro them????

Why is it if you talk about fitting a decat everyone is on about how you will invalidate your insurance 9whihc is not strictly true) but no one is worrying about this that if the insurer does find out about it will invalidate any cover??????

Word of caution, if you do this on a road you are committing the offence of 'quitting' a motor vehicle (does not apply to driveway etc). If the engine is on, a person capable of controlling the vehicle has to be present.

With keyless start once the car is started it won't ever cut out just because the key isn't present, you can drive away happily with no key in the car it will just shout at you all the time though.
The reason it won't cut out is because it's not safe to do so, if the system malfunctions and suddenly loses the key whilst driving, cutting the engine would result in no brakes and a steering lock being applied!

But as above you can start the car and then lock it with the small key blade out of the fob.
It shouldn't be that hard that you need pliars as mentioned above though! Get it oiled before you snap the key!

Don't use oil on a stiff lock, you need a little graphite powder, (get a HB pencel and scribble on some paper/sandpaper) then collect the loose graphite and put a vittle bit (less is more, you can always add some more if necessary but you can't take it out etc) then try the lock wiht the key, this will lube the lock, the lock smiths way..
