As it's absolutely bloody freezing this morning I was just thinking to myself how nice it would be to go outside, start the engine and come back indoors for 5 mins while it warms up and the heated windows do their thing. Then I thought, would it be possible to leave your engine running and then lock the car with the spare key fob? Anyone tried this before? Thanking you's :)

Good idea... But, your insurance would probably be invalid... It's just asking for some scrote to bust the window and drive you pride and joy away! With the key in the vehicle and the engine running... Not worth the risk!

Don't think it's possible anyway, at least not with the facelift and its keyless go

That's a good point mate. Although still curious if it would work as I could still do it in the evening when leaving work as it's behind locked gates.

Mines a pre facelift...

I don't think it works.

Also deffo not worth the risk of losing your pride and joy over 5 mins of keeping warm. Man up :P

It is possible, i do it but i do live down a road where there i no one else but myself. Go outside started here up and lock it with the key inside the fob....however be very careful not to press the unlock button as this WILL unlock all the doors - if you have gone back inside you a quick cup of coffee someone will drive away with your pride and joy! I'm sure the insurance issue s a problem so be very careful with this!!!! - However, it will be nice and warms for the :dunce: driving away!!

Think he means for the keyless start go thing:

Use one fob, unlock the car like normal and start her up then....... Use the actual metal key inside the fob then lock the door manually. :)

I see, doesn't really help with the old fashion key start though lol.

i guess you would have to lock it with the spare KEY not fob, as the key doesnt activate the alarm..

that is correct...

Also its not a problem with insurance as you still have the key and the car was left locked

sorry..... was using my iPhone. Yes I use the spare metal key from the fob. The alarm with arm once looked with the key.....however this is with a keyless start. I have done this before with my old ford puma. You can start the car with one key and lock it with another!
