I posted this elsewhere but it probably got lost mid thread. I see that one or two lucky members have collected their Mk2.5 ST and wondered how they are getting on and specifically some info on the following:

1) I note that have slightly changed the boot lid design, but does it still collect water so that when you open it this pours off the edges and into the boot like the mk2?
2) Is the interior really much improved over the old and if so how? Are the door and arm rest plastics as squidgy as the dash or are they unchanged?
3) Is the rear rattle and other interior squeaks still there?
4) Have they changed the door seal design to hopefully prevent the dreaded creak?
5) If you have the xenon lights, is the problem of the washer tank venting fluid into the wing still apparent? (When full you will get a smell of screen wash when you head around corners a bit sharpish).
6) What inter-cooler is now fitted? Have they stuck with the 10 layer or gone bigger?
7) Is the glove-box finally chilled (if it is there will be a controllable vent at the back that you can turn)?
8 ) What extras if any has your car got that you were not expecting or did not spec? (Auto dimming mirror, lights and wipers? Global Closing?, footwell lights etc).
9) If your car comes with the starter button but not keyfree system, how does this work?

Some of this info will be useful for those thinking of upgrading.

EDIT: couple of Qs of my own added if that's ok?:

10. I would like to know if any of the finer details have changed such as relays or fuses - i am referring to the KAM fuse when i say that!
11. Also, i'd like to know if the "unlock driver's door only trick" still works in the facelift??
----------------------------------------

I'm behind you 100% on this thread!
Less than a week til I get mine so i'll be sure to swap notes in detail.

I believe GeoNo1 and Orac have answered some of them. IIRC:

1. Yes, water still collects in the tailgate lip below the screen but not sure if this empties into the boot when raised - ??.
8. Footwell lights Bulb holders in place - stll no bulbs rolleyes.gif
9. This has been covered in quite some detail, but basically unlock the door either using keyfob or Keyfree entry. All STs come with Ford POWER starter, which recognises presence of the keyfob inside the cabin. Press POWER button once to unlock steering (electro-mechanic steering lock) and engage ignition, second press to start engine. Depress third time to swithc it off. Radio I believe will operate independantly for up to one hour at a time without keyfob present or POWER engaged.

7. I hope so! D.gif

3,4,5 - i for one as a total newbie to owning an ST can't help on these - any pointers to look for in case they carry over to the mk2?

1) Mine doesnt go in the boot!
2) It looks like Halfords fitted it!
3) What rear rattle?
4) If not just use Gummi Pfledge!
5) The ST1 has the same washer tank so Xenons dont affect it! It only leaks if you overfill it or the breather pipe comes adrift!
6) It doesnt matter just get a Radtech!
7) Dont know!
8).gif Peugot front end?
9) Press it!

According to my local dealer, the facelift does have a chilled glovebox. It has no variable control though and works in conjunction with the air-con. Air-con on = chilled glovebox ! My dealer read that directly off a Ford spec sheet, but we know that Ford can change their mind at a moments notice without reason. I think Ford must be a woman. lol.gif

Right I've cleaned this up a little and I'm also pinning it. Seems a very worthy thread so please keep it STRICTLY on topic. thumbsup.gif

Cheers

7. As per post in SVMark's thread HERE, confirmation there is a cooled glovebox woohoo.gif

I can personally confirm the glovebox is cooled. There's a vent at the rear of the box which allows it to be opened or closed for ambient or chilled contents. Cool. Literally!! lol.gif 8).gif

8.
Was not expecting a cooled glovebox (it has it D.gif)
Sunglasses box above the driver's head is a handy little bonus.
Sliding armrest on the lid of the centre console box is clever and useful.
Popping exhaust on overrun and downshifts 8).gif lol.gif
I did expect (well, I hoped for) footwell lights, but they're not there. (.gif I've also looked, albeit not very closely, for the bulb holders, but can't find them either unsure.gif

9. Something that has not yet been mentioned in relation to the keyless drive is the steering lock (traditionally released at position 1 on a standard ignition barrel).
The automatic electronic steering lock disengages once you get in and close the driver's door. It re-engages (locks) after about 5 minutes if you stay stationary and haven't started the engine (also applies when you stop the engine and don't exit the car). You can release it again by depressing the clutch pedal. Very clever.
Not so clever is that the radio automatically powers off when you press the Ford POWER button to switch the engine off, so if you're listening to a news story, for example, you're better off leaving the engine running or else you will inevitably miss something. Radio comes back on by pressing the ON/OFF button on the headunit.

The bulbholders for the footwell lights were certainly present on the demonstrator I have just looked at in my dealers.

A strange thing though regarding the keyless ignition is.....once you start the car, you can get out with the keyfob thingy. The car can then be driven for an unlimited time (subject to fuel) without the key being anywhere near the car. Only once the power button is pushed to turn it off, does the immobiliser kick in. So a word of warning, don't leave the engine running, when you are out of the car, just as with any key operated car. It can be driven off and stolen just the same.
